All 3,247 coaches of trains under this railway zone are now fitted with bio-toilets. <br \/>These bio-toilets convert the human waste into water and bio-gases with the help of bacteria. It aims at zero-defecation on to the ground and prevents damages to the track due to corrosion. It also checks the foul smell coming out of <!-- -->toilets<!-- --> from the tanks. <br \/>&#8220;In order to continue its efforts to provide clean and eco-friendly travel and fulfilling its commitment towards the &#8216;Swachha Rail, <!-- -->Swachha Bharat<!-- -->&#8216; campaign, the ECoR has installed these bio-toilets in train coaches. Out of total 3,247 coaches, 2,534 ICF coaches and 713 LHB coaches have been equipped with bio-toilets,&#8221; said an official statement of the ECoR. <br \/>The railway zone has also improved the functioning of bio-toilets by introducing the Venturi system concept. This ensures proper cross-ventilation of fresh air in the toilets as a result of which passengers will not face the issue of foul smell inside the bio-toilets. <br \/>A senior railway officer said they have installed <!-- -->soft flush system<!-- --> in bio-toilets for easy flush out of waste.
