KOLKATA: Almost a year ago, this teenager from Howrah\u2019s Uluberia had posted a video of him playing a snatch of an Indian classical tune on his modest YouTube channel. On Tuesday, Shubhranill Sarkar suddenly found himself the toast of Twitter. His humble video had been seen more than 3.6 lakh times, liked by nearly 23,000 people and shared nearly 3,000 times.
What changed in between was that Shubhranill\u2019s video had, on Monday, been shared by a certain Amitabh Bachchan, on his Twitter handle. And Big B was nothing short of being effusive in praise. \u201cOn a mouth organ never ever heard anything like this before! Adbhut, adbhut, adbhut!!\u201d, he tweeted from Mumbai\u2019s Nanavati Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment for Covid-19. <\/p>\n

Shubhranill says that his video has already been shared 2,700 times from the Big B\u2019s tweet, adding that he had replied to him on Twitter, thanking him for the share, seeking his blessings and praying for his quick recovery.
On July 25, the superstar had shared a music video of a 23-year-old girl, Arya Dhayal from Kannur, saying her music \u2014 mixing Carnatic with Western pop \u2014 had brightened his day in \u201chospital like never before\u201d.
Shubhranill, the son of a homoeopathy practitioner, began his tryst with the harmonica when he was only five. \u201cOne day, I started playing with my father\u2019s mouth organ. He used to play it occasionally. Impressed with my recital, my father admitted me to a music school called Bani Chakra. For two years, I received training under Sukanta Ghoshal. Subsequently, I started taking lessons from Deb Kumar Dey. I have also featured in a TV show. In 2015, I had also performed the background score of a Malayalam film titled \u2018Premam\u2019,\u201d he says.
Of late, he has been busy doing stage shows. \u201cI was supposed to attend a special mouth organ conference in the US on August 11. That, however, got cancelled because of the Covid-19 outbreak.\u201d
Bachchan\u2019s tweet, however, has made him forget that setback. From singer Srikanta Acharya to composer Joy Sarkar, many musicians in Kolkata have shared Bachchan\u2019s encouraging tweet to congratulate him. \u201cRD Burman and AR Rahman are my favourite musicians, and my favourite film is \u2018Sholay\u2019. I have watched it some 11 times. Once the pandemic is over, I want to go down to Mumbai and meet him,\u201d he said. <\/div>\n
