NEW DELHI: India on Wednesday received its first batch of new multirole combat fighter aircraft in nearly two decades with the arrival of five Rafale jets.
Soon after entering the Indian airspace, the Rafale contingent established contact with the Indian Navy warship INS Kolkata deployed in Western Arabian Sea.
INS Kolkata can be heard welcoming Rafale contingent as they enter the Indian Ocean. “Many thanks. Most reassuring to have an Indian warship guarding the sea,” the Rafale contingent responded in a radio message. <\/p>\n

\u201cMay you touch the sky with glory. Happy landings,\u201d INS Kolkata said as the Rafale jets prepared to land in Ambala. To this, the ‘Aero leader’ of the Rafale said, “Wish you fair winds, happy hunting over and out.”
Five French-manufactured Rafale multi-role combat jets touched down at the IAF station Ambala on Wednesday.
The Modi government had inked a Rs 59,000-crore deal in 2016 to procure 36 Rafale jets from aerospace major Dassault Aviation.
The fleet, comprising three single-seater and two twin-seater aircraft, are being inducted into the IAF as part of its Ambala-based No 17 Squadron, also known as the ‘Golden Arrows’.
