Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart, popularly known as Betty Cooper in CW’s Archie comics-inspired series, came out as bisexual on June 3 amid the Black Lives Matter movement in the US. Now, the\u00a023-year-old Riverdale actress spoke about her decision to publicly reveal her sexuality.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew full well that I was attracted to women from a young age,\u201d the actress recently told Flaunt tabloid. \u201cI felt that since I\u2019ve exclusively been in hetero-normative relationships, it would be too easy for any outsider, especially the media, to vilify me and accuse me of faking it to get attention. That\u2019s not something I wanted to deal with. But to my close friends, and those in my life, my bisexuality has been no secret.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt that I wasn\u2019t doing enough,\u201d Lili said. \u201cAnd I felt that it was lame to keep reposting what everyone else is posting so I asked myself: \u2018Okay, what do I have to offer?\u2019 I definitely learned a lot from the conversations I\u2019ve been having. While it\u2019s important to be an ally in this movement, Black voices cannot be muffled by other voices. This is their time to be heard. White people have to acknowledge their fucking privilege, which exists, and is very real. It\u2019s important that we don\u2019t just sit on our asses and let someone else fight this fight for us because it involves absolutely everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Taking to her Instagram story on June 3, Lili spoke about her support for the West Hollywood LGBTQ+ for Black Lives Matter protest, happening at Santa Monica and La Cienega. Her caption read, “Although I\u2019ve never announced it publicly before, I am a proud bisexual woman. And I will be joining this protest today. Come join.\u201d<\/p>\n
