{"id":21848,"date":"2020-09-14T09:54:50","date_gmt":"2020-09-14T09:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=21848"},"modified":"2020-09-14T09:54:50","modified_gmt":"2020-09-14T09:54:50","slug":"gdg-virtual-meeting-on-the-update-of-the-consolidated-guidelines-for-use-of-antiretrovirals-for-preventing-and-treating-hiv-infection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=21848","title":{"rendered":"GDG Virtual Meeting on the update of the Consolidated Guidelines for use of antiretrovirals for preventing and treating HIV infection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<div>\n<p>WHO has made available the membership of the Guidelines Development Group (GDG) for the update of the WHO &#8220;Consolidated Guidelines for use of antiretrovirals for preventing and treating HIV infection.&#8221; These guidelines will be updated with relevant WHO<br \/>\n    guidance released since 2016 and also include new recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual meeting of the Clinical GDG will be held from 28 September \u2013 2 October 2020. The objective of this Guidelines meeting is to formulate recommendations on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the use of the dapivirine containing vaginal ring in women at substantial risk of HIV infection; <\/li>\n<li>the use of point-of-care NAT test in children under 18 months of age; <\/li>\n<li>the use of point-of-care NAT tests (viral load) to monitor treatment in PLHIV; the treatment monitoring algorithm, timing of viral load and threshold for treatment failure; and <\/li>\n<li>TB\/HIV coinfection management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In line with WHO policy on conflict of interest, members of the<br \/>\npublic and interested organizations can access the biographies of the<br \/>\nGDG members and inform WHO of their views about them.
