{"id":25503,"date":"2020-10-07T08:23:13","date_gmt":"2020-10-07T08:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=25503"},"modified":"2020-10-07T08:23:13","modified_gmt":"2020-10-07T08:23:13","slug":"heart-patients-need-to-be-wary-of-coronavirus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=25503","title":{"rendered":"Heart Patients Need to Be Wary of Coronavirus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>                            <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"News Picture: Heart Patients Need to Be Wary of Coronavirus\" class=\"healthday_image\" src=\"https:\/\/media.healthday.com\/Images\/icimages\/18029.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>TUESDAY, Oct. 6, 2020 (HealthDay News)<\/p>\n<p>The coronavirus pandemic and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/influenza\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">flu<\/a> season pose a double risk for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/heart_disease_coronary_artery_disease\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">heart disease<\/a> patients, so they need to be extra vigilant about their health, the American College of Cardiology (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/adenoid_cystic_carcinoma_acc\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">ACC<\/a>) says.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/heart_disease_pictures_slideshow_visual_guide\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"slide\">Heart disease<\/a> patients bear a greater burden during the pandemic since they are having to navigate managing their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/heart_how_the_heart_works\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">heart<\/a> health while also protecting themselves from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/wuhan_coronavirus_2019-ncov\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">COVID-19<\/a>, as they are at increased risk of serious complications,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/adenoid_cystic_carcinoma_acc\/article.htm\" rel=\"dt\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\">ACC<\/a> President Dr. Athena Poppas said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The ACC has worked with experts around the world to assess best treatment practices, and the consensus on how to protect <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/heart_disease_quiz\/quiz.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"quiz\">heart disease<\/a> patients comes down to several simple, easy-to-follow steps,&#8221; Poppas explained in an ACC news release:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wear a mask, keep a safe distance from others and wash your hands.<\/li>\n<li>Get a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/flu_vaccination\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"proc\">flu shot<\/a>. Contact your health care provider or pharmacy today.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your health care appointments and call if you notice something new or worse with your health. If you think that you may be having a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/heart_attack\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">heart attack<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/stroke_symptoms_and_treatment\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">stroke<\/a>, dial 911 immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Keep a supply of your medicines handy. Let your care team know if you need help with your medications.<\/li>\n<li>Stay active and stay calm.
