{"id":26034,"date":"2020-10-15T12:42:11","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T12:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=26034"},"modified":"2020-10-15T12:42:11","modified_gmt":"2020-10-15T12:42:11","slug":"first-confirmed-u-s-case-of-covid-19-reinfection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=26034","title":{"rendered":"First Confirmed U.S. Case of COVID-19 Reinfection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>WEDNESDAY, Oct. 14, 2020 (HealthDay News) &#8212; A 25-year-old Nevada man is the first person in the United States confirmed to have developed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/wuhan_coronavirus_outbreak_2019-ncov\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"slide\">COVID-19<\/a> twice.<\/p>\n<p>His second infection was worse than the first, but he has recovered, <i>USA Today<\/i> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The case involving the otherwise healthy man raises questions about how long people are protected after being infected with the coronavirus that causes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/wuhan_coronavirus_2019-ncov_symptoms_and_signs\/symptoms.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"sym\">COVID-19<\/a>, and how much protection may be offered by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/vaccination_faqs\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"proc\">vaccine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a yellow caution light,&#8221; Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, told <i>USA Today<\/i>. He was not involved in the research.<\/p>\n<p>At least 22 cases of reinfection worldwide have been confirmed worldwide since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, but the actually number of reinfections is unknown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"credits\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MedicalNews\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medicinenet.com\/images\/HealthDay\/healthday.png\" style=\"border: none;\"\/><br \/>Copyright \u00a9 2019 HealthDay.
