{"id":26071,"date":"2020-10-16T08:25:49","date_gmt":"2020-10-16T08:25:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=26071"},"modified":"2020-10-16T08:25:49","modified_gmt":"2020-10-16T08:25:49","slug":"ebola-drug-approved-by-fda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=26071","title":{"rendered":"Ebola Drug Approved by FDA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"News_list_rdr art\">\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<h3>Latest Infectious Disease News<\/h3>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>THURSDAY, Oct. 15, 2020 (HealthDay News) &#8212; A new drug to treat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/ebola_hemorrhagic_fever_ebola_hf\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">Ebola<\/a> was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Inmazeb (atoltivimab, maftivimab, and odesivimab-ebgn) is a mixture of three monoclonal antibodies, and the first FDA-approved treatment for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/ebola_hemorrhagic_fever_ebola_hf\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">Ebola virus<\/a> infection in adults and children.<\/p>\n<p>The drug was tested in one clinical trial that included 382 adults and children with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/ebola_hemorrhagic_fever_ebola_hf\/article.htm\" rel=\"dt\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\">Ebola<\/a> in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/ebola_virus_pictures_slideshow\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"slide\">Ebola virus<\/a> outbreak in 2018-2019.<\/p>\n<p>The death rate after 28 days was 33.8% among the 154 patients who received Inmazeb, compared to 51% of those who received an experimental control drug.<\/p>\n<p class=\"credits\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MedicalNews\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medicinenet.com\/images\/HealthDay\/healthday.png\" style=\"border: none;\"\/><br \/>Copyright \u00a9 2019 HealthDay.
