{"id":27780,"date":"2020-11-17T10:31:49","date_gmt":"2020-11-17T10:31:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=27780"},"modified":"2020-11-17T10:31:49","modified_gmt":"2020-11-17T10:31:49","slug":"pfizer-coronavirus-vaccine-could-cut-transmission-by-half-company-executive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=27780","title":{"rendered":"Pfizer Coronavirus Vaccine Could Cut Transmission by Half: Company Executive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>MONDAY, Nov. 16, 2020 (HealthDay News) &#8212; BioNTech and Pfizer&#8217;s experimental coronavirus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/vaccination_faqs\/article.htm\" rel=\"proc\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\">vaccine<\/a> could cut transmission of the virus in half, leading to a &#8220;dramatic&#8221; curb of its spread, according to a company executive.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m very confident that transmission between people will be reduced by such a highly effective vaccine &#8212; maybe not 90% but maybe 50%,&#8221; said Ugur Sahin, chief executive of Germany&#8217;s BioNTech, the <em>Associated Press<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the companies claimed the vaccine was 90% effective in protecting people from the new coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If everything continues to go well, we will start to deliver the vaccine end of this year, beginning next year,&#8221; Sahin said. &#8220;Our goal is to deliver more than 300 million of vaccine doses until April next year, which could allow us to already start to make an impact.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Researchers are gathering more information on safety and manufacturing quality of the vaccine, the <em>AP<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"credits\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MedicalNews\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medicinenet.com\/images\/HealthDay\/healthday.png\" style=\"border: none;\"\/><br \/>Copyright \u00a9 2020 HealthDay.
