{"id":28169,"date":"2020-11-24T07:12:45","date_gmt":"2020-11-24T07:12:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=28169"},"modified":"2020-11-24T07:12:45","modified_gmt":"2020-11-24T07:12:45","slug":"ebola-outbreak-in-democratic-republic-of-the-congo-declared-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=28169","title":{"rendered":"Ebola Outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo Declared Over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"News_list_rdr\">\n<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<h3>Latest Infectious Disease News<\/h3>\n<p>&#13;\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>MONDAY, Nov. 23, 2020 (HealthDay News) &#8212; The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/ebola_hemorrhagic_fever_ebola_hf\/article.htm\" rel=\"dt\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\">Ebola<\/a> outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is over, health officials say.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday marks 42 days, or two incubation periods, since the last survivor tested negative for the virus, so the DRC Ministry of Health and World Health Organization officially announced the end of the outbreak, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/prevention\/article.htm\" rel=\"dt\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\">Prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a tremendous accomplishment, particularly in the midst of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicinenet.com\/wuhan_coronavirus_2019-ncov\/article.htm\" onclick=\"wmdTrack('embd-lnk');\" rel=\"dt\">COVID-19<\/a> pandemic,&#8221; CDC Director Robert Redfield said in an agency news release. &#8220;CDC congratulates the DRC Ministry of Health and partners who have worked tirelessly to overcome challenges and bring this Ebola outbreak to an end.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>While this is a significant achievement, efforts to quickly detect new cases of Ebola must continue for at least six months, the CDC noted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"credits\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"MedicalNews\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/images.medicinenet.com\/images\/HealthDay\/healthday.png\" style=\"border: none;\"\/><br \/>Copyright \u00a9 2020 HealthDay.
