Though\u00a0Saroj\u00a0Khan\u2019s name appears in the credit titles of Ram\u00a0Gopal\u00a0Varma\u2019s Rangeela<\/em> for the choreography of the songs\u00a0\u2018Tanha\u00a0Tanha\u2019<\/em>\u00a0and \u2018Hai\u00a0Rama\u2019<\/em>, the fact is, these numbers were not choreographed by Ms Khan.<\/p>\n A prominent member of the\u00a0Rangeela<\/em> team spills the beans. \u201cOn the morning when Ramu (director Ram\u00a0Gopal Varma) was supposed to start shooting for the song\u00a0\u2018Tanha\u00a0Tanha\u2019<\/em> with\u00a0Urmila\u00a0Matondkar, Sarojji didn\u2019t show up on the set. She sent her assistant Ahmed Khan instead saying she will join later. In those days\u00a0Sarojji\u00a0was working on 4-5 projects simultaneously. In fact she was shooting for\u00a0\u2018Ankhiyan\u00a0Milaye\u2019<\/em> with Madhuri Dixit in Raja<\/em> when she was supposed to choreograph\u00a0\u2018Tanha\u00a0Tanha\u2019<\/em>. So she couldn\u2019t make it on the first day of the shooting for\u00a0\u2018Tanha\u00a0Tanha\u2019<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n This didn\u2019t go down well with Ramu. He took an on-the-spot decision turned to Ahmed Khan and said, \u201cDo you want to take over the choreography of\u00a0\u2018Tanha\u00a0Tanha\u2019<\/em>?\u201d Nervous and scared, Ahmed said he will think about it. But Ramu\u00a0insisted on an answer. \u201cYou have to decide now in the next ten minutes, or lose the chance.\u201d<\/p>\n Ahmed said yes and that\u2019s how he took over the choreography of \u2018Tanha\u00a0Tanha\u2019<\/em>\u00a0and \u2018Hai\u00a0Rama\u2019<\/em> from Saroj\u00a0Khan. However out of respect for her seniority,\u00a0Saroj\u00a0Khan\u2019s name was mentioned as the choreographer of the songs\u00a0\u2018Tanha Tanha\u2019<\/em>\u00a0and \u2018Hai\u00a0Rama\u2019<\/em> in\u00a0Rangeela<\/em>.<\/p>\n Ram\u00a0Gopal\u00a0Varma\u00a0is uncharacteristically diplomatic about\u00a0Saroj\u00a0Khan when he says, \u201cSaroj Khan undoubtedly was the most original choreographer ever and her specialty was that she put in emotions into a dance form.
