The ever-radiant\u00a0Hema Malini is deeply concerned about ground-level artistes and musicians. \u201cThose who lead a hand-to-mouth existence are really suffering in this\u00a0lockdown. Musicians who play accompanying instruments at live concerts, chorus dancers, the\u00a0spotboys, and the photographers have no means of livelihood. Something must be done immediately to generate a basic income for them until the virus threat is over. In my constituency\u00a0Mathura girls dance every day at temples to earn a living. With temples shut they have no money to buy food. I\u2019ve written to the Finance Minister Nirmala\u00a0Sitharaman\u00a0about them,\u201d says Hema\u00a0Malini.<\/p>\n

She is equally concerned about the Maharashtra government\u2019s post-lockdown\u00a0policy of not allowing actors above 65 to return to shooting. \u201cThis is absurd. I am above 65, Paresh Rawalji is also in the same age group. Mr\u00a0Bachchan\u00a0is in his 70s. Are we all supposed to sit at home doing nothing? The criteria for working or not working should be physical fitness, not age. There are so many 60-plus professional out there\u2014doctors, lawyers, engineers\u2014doing so for themselves. God bless\u00a0them. Let\u2019s not discriminate on the basis of age.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hema\u00a0Malini\u00a0has written to the Home Secretary about the relaxation of age restrictions.<\/p>\n
