{"id":9863,"date":"2020-07-28T05:39:58","date_gmt":"2020-07-28T05:39:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=9863"},"modified":"2020-07-28T05:39:58","modified_gmt":"2020-07-28T05:39:58","slug":"more-ai-adoption-may-lead-to-a-2-5-hike-in-indias-gdp-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bengalnewstimes.com\/?p=9863","title":{"rendered":"More AI adoption may lead to a 2.5% hike in India&#8217;s GDP: Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>New Delhi:<\/strong>\u00a0One unit increase in Artificial Intelligence (AI) intensity by Indian firms can result in a 2.5 per cent increase in the country\u2019s gross domestic product (GDP) in the immediate term, a study by Google, IT industry body Nasscom and think tank ICRIER revealed on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>AI intensity is measured as the ratio of AI to total sales of the firm, said the report titled \u201cImplications of AI on the Indian Economy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In the absence of a direct measure of AI at the firm level, the model uses investments in software, databases and computer machinery as a proxy for AI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a seminal report, estimating a 2.5 per cent growth in India\u2019s GDP if India adopts AI in a sustained way,\u201d Sanjay Gupta, Country Head and Vice President, Google India, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The research, however, found that the current rate of growth in AI investments is unlikely to increase the levels of AI intensity adequately.<\/p>\n<p>To trigger a positive growth shock, AI intensities should be sharply increased, it added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cIndia is amid a once-in-a-generation disruption driven by AI.
