KOLKATA: After over a week of recording less than 100 daily Covid-19 cases, a total of 135 new cases were recorded from Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation area in the last 24 hours. This is the single-day highest record from Bidhannagar area so far.
This is also the fourth time that the daily Covid cases in Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation area crossed the three figure mark. The previous single day highest record from the civic body jurisdiction area was 122 that was recorded on July 23.
The total Covid affected persons from Bidhannagar area now stands at 2,195, with 1,033 active cases at present. There have been 41 Covid deaths from Bidhannagar area so far and 1,121 Covid affected persons have recovered.
The civic authorities are continuing with its strategy to keep several markets closed on alternative days and conducting sanitizing drive across localities and market places in regular intervals.
With Covid numbers increasing, the neighbouring South Dum Dum municipality authorities are mulling on enforcing a complete lockdown twice a week in its jurisdiction area from next week. The civic authorities had earlier enforced a partial lockdown in its area till last Monday.
