KOLKATA: The tenure of panels for counselling and appointing assistant professors and librarians, which were formed last year, has been extended till the end of the year.
The West Bengal College Service Commission had requested the government to extend the validity of the panels as counselling and appointments had been hampered due to the Covid situation in the country.
“A panel’s tenure is usually set for a year, within which appointments have to be cleared. It has not been possible this time owing to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Under the circumstances, around eight to 10 panels have been given the permission to be extended,” said a source in the higher education department at Bikash Bhavan on Wednesday.
The panels were formed between May and August last year and they were supposed to function until August this year.
