According to a report published by CapitalMind, the known debt of Future Group’s listed companies is over Rs 26,000 crore. Mukesh Ambani has claimed to pay about Rs. 25,000 crore and Biyani’s loans upto Rs 12,500 crore.
Many banks including Axis bank, Bank of Baroda, and Bank of India have lent big sums adding up to approximately Rs 12,000 crore to Biyani’s listed companies and just as much to his unlisted firms. Bank of India holds the lion’s share, exposing upto Rs 5,750 crores. However, their stocks have climbed upto 10% in the past 3 years indicating that the market probably had an idea about the Reliance- Future deal.
Kotak Credit Risk Fund and Franklin Templeton had lent about Rs 986 crore to the Future Group. Ambani seems to be very clear about paying back upto 60% dues and has reportedly warned about the same to the banks and suppliers. He also denied repaying the debt of Biyani’s private companies including 13 promoter group companies under Future enterprises (Biyani’s flagship firm).Kishore Biyani and his family now hold 33.5 % stake in Future Group’s listed companies, however, most of it has already been promised to lenders.
