Rupee ends lower at 73.58 against US dollar

The Indian rupee ended lower at 73.58 against the US dollar on Tuesday tracking negative domestic markets. At the interbank forex market, the rupee opened on a weak note at 73.50, then fell further to 73.58, registering a fall of 25 paise over its last close.

The yield on the 10-year government bond ended at 6.004% as compared to Monday’s close of 6.016%.

On Monday, the rupee strengthened by 7 paise to close at 73.38 against the US dollar on Monday.

On the domestic front, both indices closed at their lowest levels in over a month with the Sensex dropped 300 points or 0.79% to 37,734. The Nifty50 fell 97 points or 0.86% to 11,154.

HCL Tech was the biggest gainer on Tuesday, rising 2.92 per cent. TCS, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, Grasim Industries, Dr Reddy’s Labs, ICICI Bank and Cipla were among other top gainers in today’s trade.
