KOLKATA: The probe into the death of Amit Sen (72) — a businessman from Jodhpur Park — has now revealed he was under financial stress and had recently consulted his lawyer on the same.
“We have not found any external injury on his body. We are still waiting for the post-mortem report. But it does seem that he had committed suicide. Sources claimed what might have added to his worries was an input from Siliguri that another businessman had approached the police there claiming that one of his cheques had bounced. Police said his debt in the market had steadily risen.
Cops said Sen had asked his driver to take him to central Kolkata on Sunday. “He took him to a few places and then got off at the Strand Road telling his driver that he will be back. However, when he did not return for long and his mobile phone was found switched off, his son lodged a missing case with Hare Street police, based on driver’s statement,” said a central division officer.
