In the past 24 hours, the state has recorded 90 Covid-19 cases of which 61 are from Kohima, 26 from Dimapur district, two in Peren and one in Phek district, according to a tweet from Nagaland health minister S Pangnyu Phom.

On Wednesday, the state had reported 57 positive cases out of which 23 were from Dimapur, 18 from Kohima, seven from Zunheboto, five from Peren, and two each Mon and Mokokchung districts.
The state’s cumulative Covid tally till Thursday is 1,174 of which 486 have already recovered leaving behind 688 as active patients and so far there is no death.
The Kohima district task force (DTF) on Thursday decided that during the seven-day lockdown period, only stores selling commodities (including pharmacies) deemed as “essential” shall be allowed to operate between 9am and 2pm while vegetable vendors have been allowed to sell only in their respective colonies.
“The complete lockdown measure is imposed in order to enhance the active surveillance by the CMO coordination team of Kohima and ensure more comprehensive contact tracing, early detection of suspected cases, and isolation measures to slow down the chain of the transmission process and to further contain the spread of the Covid-19 infection,” the order by Kohima district deputy commissioner Gregory Thejaweli said.
On Wednesday the Nagaland government had decided not to impose a total lockdown in the entire state, but left it to affected districts to take their own calls.
In view of the sixth session of the state legislative assembly, which is scheduled to be held on July 30, all MLAs, government and assembly officials and others engaged for the session have been exempted from the lockdown.
Inter-state, inter-district and inter-village movement will be restricted except for movement of medical emergency cases and essential goods and services with proper measures. Funeral and last rites related gatherings have been allowed but with not more than 20 people gathering.
On the other hand Dimapur district task force on Covid-19, opted for the partial lockdown in the district under which only grocery stores and pharmacies would be allowed remain open from 9 am to 2 pm during the lockdown period and continued with the existing odd-even system for vehicular movement in the district.
