Also in the last 24 hours, the cumulative total of positive cases rose to 28,791 with the addition of 1047 more fresh positive cases on Thursday.
On the other hand, 1,349 discharges were reported during the last 24 hours following which the total number of Covid-19 recoveries in the state crossed another milestone to reach 20,699 figure. The recovery rate now is over 71%. There are now 8013 active cases in various hospitals and Covid care centres.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Friday evening informed that six Covid-19 died on Friday and four other patients on succumbed to the virus on Saturday. Among the 10 deceased persons, four are between 75 and 85 years of ages, four between 60 and 55 years of ages and two between 43 and 40 years of ages.

Sarma said in one of his tweets, “1349 patients are back home, happy. In moments like these, such information – we crossed 20,000 cured patients mark – bring cheers. Also second day in a row, our discharge figures on July 23 are higher than new cases. Kudos to all who made this possible.”
Guwahati city at present is the worst-hit by the virus. Till Thursday the city has registered 13,049 positive cases.
With regard to testing for the virus, till Thursday over seven lakh tests have been completed in the state by both RT-PCR and rapid antigen methods.
Sarma said in another tweet, “Testing forms the backbone of a robust strategy to deal with #COVID19. With tireless efforts of hundreds of healthcare professionals we’ve now crossed 7 lakh testing figures, a commendable feat. In last 24hrs, we carried out 19,913 tests, with cumulative numbers reaching 7,23,287.”
